Tate's commitment to sustainability includes goals and actions for continuous improvement in the areas of the environment, customers, community and company. The construction and operation of buildings is a major contributor to global final energy use and energy-related CO2 emissions, so it is increasingly important for companies like ours to take serious actions to foster a better environment. We are constantly investigating and implementing new ways to reduce the environmental impact of our manufacturing process and business operations through improved energy efficiency, automation and environmentally friendly solutions.

Sustainability and Tate Products

Tate products provide many sustainable advantages throughout the construction and operation of a building. During the construction phase, Tate’s Underfloor Service Distribution System allows a reduction in slab-to-slab height, decreasing the amount of required construction materials including eliminating ducts and reducing power and data cable lengths.

In operation, an underfloor HVAC system performs at a much lower pressure and warmer supply temperature than a traditional ducted overhead system, boosting indoor air quality, energy efficiency and personal comfort control. Lower system pressure helps improve energy efficiency through the reduction of mechanical equipment and longer economizer hours. Additionally, the ability to reuse service supply materials such as wires, cables, outlets and diffusers during reconfiguration further improves the lifetime sustainability of any facility.

Net Zero Energy


In 2011 through Kingspan’s Net Zero Energy program, its companies, including Tate, committed globally to matching 100% operational energy with renewable energy by 2020. We are on track to achieve this target through a mix of energy reduction and procurement of certified renewable energy credits. As we reach the successful conclusion of our 10-year Net Zero Energy program in 2020, we are launching a new 10-year Planet Passionate Program.
